Accessibility at the Museum

Find out here-below how to enjoy at best your visit at the Museum.

We have re-arranged our standard procedures so that you can enjoy your visit under the safetiest conditions; we have also made all needed adjustments in order to be accessible to all public with the best possible comfort. Our main desire is to open our doors and welcome as many visitors as possible, so that they can all enjoy this place, the collections, our exhibitions and we hope you will find the following information helpful to plan your visit.

This is work in progress process that will allow us to attain our next goal: to become a Museum with no barriers.

 

BEFORE VISITING

Buy your ticket Either on line or at the ticket office.
Parking Free parking in front of the Museum, 120 minutes max.
Free parking nearby with no time limits.
Free parking along the road to the Temple with no time limits.
Entry and exit from the Museum Entry: to reach the ticket office, there are two uphill steps. To reach the Museum, from the ticket office, there are two downhill steps.
In case you can’t access through the entry door, we will open for you the main wooden door overlooking Canova square.
Security and luggages Museum rooms are video-monitored.
No baggage storage is available.

Animals Small size animals are welcome, but they need to be hold in arms or in their pick-ups only.
Guide dogs can access with no restrictions.

 

AT THE MUSEUM

Visit information We’ll deliver the Museum map to every visitor in which you will find intersting information about the Museum’s history and Antonio Canova’s life.
Inside the Museum’s rooms you will find QR codes in front of some of the artworks. Scan them to obtain the artwork’s description.
If needed, ask the personnel at the ticket office for braille or large printing cards.
Lifts and floors accessibility To reach the ticket office, there are two uphill steps; however for people with reduced mobility or if pushchairs, we will open for you the main wooden door. There’s no lift in the Museum. No barriers to visit the 19th century Gypsotheque, on the contrary two uphill steps connect this room from the Scarpa’s wing. The ground floor of Canova’s house can be easily visited, but the first and the second floors can be reached by flights of stairs only.
Seats No seats inside the Museum’s rooms or the house, but in the garden and on the entry portico only.
Toilets The museum is equipped with toilets that can be reached crossing the garden inside the facility.
Toilets comply with the needs of people with reduced mobility.
An area with a changing table has also been set.

 

MUSEUM SERVICES

Touch Tours To help people with visual disability to appreciate and live art thanks to a direct touch approach.

It will be possible to understand Canova’s sculpting technique by touching both Ebe’s special bust and the fours busts inside the educational atelier.

For every single blind person, we strinctly recommand their guides to actively participate. Ebe’s bust will be always available, on the contrary a 48h early reservation is required to visit the Atelier, because this room is normally closed to unaccompanied visitors.

Large print downloads are available (for some artworks only).

Braille printing descriptions are available (for some artworks only).

Ask our bookshop for enlargement lenses or a monocle to help you reading the artworks’ captions or other informaton along your visit itinerary.

Specialized guides will accompany full- or partially-sighted people in a discovery tour of canovian sculture.
We can welcome small groups and accompany them by way of our touch tours. Reservation is mandatory. The cost for this service is 80 EUR. Contact us at +39 0423 544323 or send us a WhatsApp text at +39 351 8270733 not later than 7 days before you intend to plan your visit.

It may happen your visit should be re-planned due to unexpected events not depending from our will. In this case, it will be our priority to promptly contact you and select and fix a new date.

Cost: 120 EUR for groups of 20 visitors max.
Free early entries For autistic people we’ll be glad to grant an early entry, a half an hour earlier than the official entry time (09h00 instead of 09h30). Reservation is mandatory. No extra costs are required. Please book your visit at posta@museocanova.it
Families and kids Every 1st Saturday of each month and every Sunday at 16h00 we propose guide tours dedicated to families and their little curious visitors.
Creative labs are regularly planned from October to June every 3rd Saturday of each month at 16h00.
